𝗛𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Recent occurrences of shear line, trough of LPA, and unpredictable weather patterns have significantly increased the risk of landslides, flash floods, and other natural disasters in our mountains. Engaging in mountaineering during this time poses a serious threat to the safety of climbers.
𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀: Climbing without proper permits, coordination with local government units (LGUs), and experienced guides significantly increases public safety risks. This is especially true for inexperienced climbers who may not be aware of the dangers involved, such as getting lost, encountering bad weather, or sustaining injuries. Without proper permits and coordination, rescue operations in remote mountainous areas become complex, resource-intensive, and may even be delayed, putting climbers at further risk.
However, mountaineering activities related to scientific research may be granted permits on a case-by-case basis. Researchers must submit detailed proposals to the relevant government agencies and secure all necessary clearances before proceeding.
Local Government Units (LGUs) are authorized to apprehend individuals caught engaging in illegal mountaineering activities. Violators may face penalties as outlined by provincial and national laws.

For your safety, please report any social media posts or invitations for mountaineering activities in Davao de Oro that lack proper permits and coordination with local authorities. You can report them directly to the official Facebook page of the 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼 𝗱𝗲 𝗢𝗿𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲 or by email at 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗼@𝗴𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺.
If you are interested in mountaineering in Davao de Oro, wait until the Provincial Government and Municipal Government Units announce the reopening of mountaineering activities, with proper safety protocols in place.
