AURORA

It was on April 8, 1981 when Barangay Aurora was created a barangay due to its existing population as the legal basis. It was the incumbency of the late Senen B. Suarez as the municipal Mayor, while the late Prospero S. Amatong was the Governor of Davao del Norte, whose derived part is now Compostela Valley.

Before its creation Aurora was the Purok 4 of Barangay Siocon, which its Purok chairman Mr. Salvador F. Perasol Sr. who at the time become its intern Punong Barangay.
First three (3) families who immigrated in Barangay Aurora was the Perasol family, headed by the late Federico Perasol, the Suaybaguio family headed by the late Segundino Suaybaguio and the Dela Rosa family headed by the late Honorio Dela Rosa.

Formerly, it’s composed of 5 Puroks. The Purok 1, 2 & 3 were called Lanapan while the Purok 4 & 5 was called Maobog.
During those days almost the entire area of the Barangay was infested by mudfish and it was only the NIA roads that serve as the main route of transportation.
On the first Barangay Election conducted in the barangay sometimes in the early 80’s it got out with the following candidates as the winner.

Elementary School were not yet available and it has only one (1) chicken house like classroom for grade 1 & 2 with Mrs. Julieta H. Gayares & Mrs. Lorenza Cogollo as classroom teachers. It was sometimes in 1992 when the Barangay Health Center was constructed with its site donated by Mr. Ramy G. Daguio and under the Rural Development Fund of former Congressman Rogelio M. Sarmiento, the barangay Hall on 1994, followed by the grain warehouse and several MPP’s so as the barangay electrification from Purok 2 to Purok 6 under the chairmanship of former Kagawad Condrado D. Libed.

Then the Barangay and the farm to market roads was also develop under the chairmanship of Kagawad Aurelio E. Agsoy. Several level 2 water system was also installed with Barangay Kagawad manuel R. Tejada and Ramie G. Daguio.
Sometimes on 1998 during the incumbency of Hon. Manuel E. Zamora as Congressman of the first district of ComVal province the level 3 water system of Aurora was materialized under his RDF.
Now, Barangay Aurora has more than ten (10) classrooms in its Elementary School, ten (10) solar dryer’s and one (1) serviceable drinking water system as level 3, with nine (9) Purok houses under reconstruction after Typhoon Pablo under the assistance of Municipal Mayor Lema P. Bolo, with the barangay constituents enjoying the peace and order and abundance of farming in the barangay.

Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 1,281. This represented 1.43% of the total population of Compostela.

Aurora is situated at approximately 7.6547, 126.0485, in the island of Mindanao. Elevation at these coordinates is estimated at 72.4 meters or 237.5 feet above mean sea level.
