CALALAS' DENTAL EDUCATION PROGRAM REACHED SITIO MAMBUSAO

Around 70 school children from Sitio Mambusao, Barangay Ngan, Compostela, Province of Compostela Valley were inculcated during the Dental Education Program initiated by the Office of Hon. Alan Calalas in partnership with Dr. Tita Sumalinog Calalas.

Mambusao Elementary School, headed by Sir Renante Palencia Eran, was chosen to be a recipient of the program. Together with the learners are their parents and guardians who also participated the activities like oral health education, proper tooth brush application, and tooth brushing drills.

Hon. Alan Calalas, elected first Municipal Councilor of Compostela, said "With this program we bring to the grassroots level especially in the remote areas, we could address issues specifically on oral health problems and impart to our constituents the importance of being healthy."

"I am happy that this program is reaching far flung barangays as we educate school children together with their parents on oral health awareness.", the Municipal Councilor added.

During the activity, pupils were also given toothbrush and toothpaste samples. To complete their learning experience, Councilor Calalas provided education materials.

Dr. Tita Calalas, member of the Philippine Dental Association, expressed "to prevent absences among students in school due to tooth decay and dental carries, we must teach our children the proper way to take care of our teeth."
